  • (1/17/07) Scott Thorman will be the Braves starting first baseman after Adam LaRoche was dealt to Pittsburgh today.  Thorman tore up AAA last year and will be 25 in 2007.  He's a good sleeper candidate in 2007, but plays a very deep position.

  • (1/13/07) Pedro Martinez's shoulder is recovering better than expected.  He could return earlier than the expected August 1st date.

  • (1/13/07) Hayden Penn.  Rodrigo Lopez was traded to the Rockies on Friday leaving Penn to battle with Jaret Wright for the 5th spot in the rotation.

  • (1/5/07) Randy Johnson was traded by the Yankees for Luis Vizcaino (see below).  He will now face the likes of the Padres and Rockies instead of the Red Sox and Blue Jays.  He won win as many games, but his ERA should drop simply from this move.

  • (12/29/06) Barry Zito signs a $126M deal with San Fransisco.  He will pitch again in a good pitcher's park and will get away from the DH.  He's not highly recommended, but this was a good more for his fantasy value.

  • (12/15/06) Brendan Donnelly is traded to the Red Sox.  Could he be the closer in 2007?

  • (12/15/06) Akinori Iwamura signed a 3 year deal with the Devil Rays.  He is penciled in as the opening day 2B and could hit 20-25 home runs in 2007.

  • (12/14/06) Daisuke Matsuzaka signed a 6 year deal with the Red Sox.  He should be the Red Sox number 2 or 3 starter in 2007.  Don't buy too high, but he's a worthy draft choice.

  • (12/12/06) Jason Jennings was traded to the Houston Astros.  He will get more chances to win and gets away from Coor's Field.

  • (12/6/06) Freddy Garcia was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.  The NL East will be tougher than people think, but he gets away from the DH and the AL Central.

SELL ▼

  • (1/17/07) Mike Gonzalez and Bob Wickman will both lose value due to the LaRoche/Gonzalez deal.  Wickman has never been a star closer and will be challenged immediately by Gonzalez (not to mention Soriano, who could be the best of the bunch).

  • (1/5/07) Luis Vizcaino was traded to the Yankees in a deal for Randy Johnson.  He was the best reliever on the Diamondbacks roster in 2006 and  deserved a shot at the closer spot in 2007, but he won't get that in New York.

  • (12/21/06) Andy Pettitte signed a 2 year deal with the Yankees.  He will now be facing AL East lineups instead of the NL Central Pirates, Brewers, etc.

  • (12/21/06) Roger Clemens seems likely to be headed back to New York if he does return.  See Andy Pettitte.

  • (12/19/06) Brad Radke announced his retirement.

  • (12/18/06) Vernon Wells signed a 7 year deal with Toronto.  Fantasy GM's love a guy in a contract year - whether it's a factor or not.

  • (12/15/06) Jorge Cantu looks to be the odd man out in Tampa - Iwamura looks like he will step in and take the 2B job.

  • (12/12/06) Jason Hirsch was traded to Colorado.  This highly touted prospect will now be calling Coor's field home.
