  • Julio Lugo (BOS) is a 20th round selection is most leagues, but don't forget about his stolen base potential on draft day.

  • Takashi Saito (LAD) is being overlooked when the top closers are being drafted.  It's mainly due to his age and the fact that he has two young flamethrowers behind him in the Dodgers pen.

  • Chipper Jones (ATL) is a future Hall of Famer that hasn't had over 550 at bats since 2003, but when he's on the field he is still an All-Star caliber hitter.  He has hit over .320 in each of the last two seasons with 55 home runs.

  • J.D. Drew (BOS) posted an OPS under .800 for the first time since 1999 and hit only 11 home runs which was his lowest total since his rookie year.  He is only 32 years old and while he won't hit 30 home runs, but his run production potential in Boston's lineup makes him someone you shouldn't ignore on draft day.

  • Albert Pujols (STL) continues to be a mid-first round pick in most drafts despite the injury results.  He's a high risk/high reward player and some have speculated that he may shut it down early if his elbow is bothering him and the Cardinals are out of the playoff race.

  • Juan Pierre (LAD) continuously puts up monster stolen base totals and is being drafted in 2008 as though he will do the same this year.  However, he  isn't guaranteed his normal 600+ AB's as he fights with Andre Ethier for playing time.

  • Chone Figgins (LAA) is a speedster, but do you think he'll hit .330 again?

  • Carlos Zambrano (CHC) struck out less than 8 per 9 IP in 2007 and walked more than 4 per 9.  Why is he still considered to be a fantasy ace?

  • Roy Oswalt's (HOU) days as a fantasy #1 pitcher appear to be over.  Strikeout rates have decreased for 4 consecutive seasons.

  • Brad Hawpe (COL) is being drafted as a top 100 player and as a 29 year old, it's understandable, but his splits are a big concern.  He has hit only .224 with a .408 SLG in his career against lefties and also has hit only .253 in the 2nd half over the course of his career.  Can he pull it all together in 2008?  Or is he a future platoon player that can't be counted on during your fantasy season's playoff run.
