  • Lyle Overbay (TOR) seems to be pain-free and should see his production match his 2006 level and not his injury plagued 2007 numbers.

  • Ryan Church (NYM) should see a significant spike in his offensive numbers after moving from RFK to Shea Stadium.  Despite the fact that Shea Stadium is considered a pitcher's park, it's still a dramatic improvement over RFK.  Look for his home run production to jump 20% based on that fact alone.

  • George Sherrill (BAL) will take over the closer's role in Baltimore.

  • Alex Gordon (KC) is still the same player he was a year ago.

  • Albert Pujols (STL) has a lingering elbow injury that could cost him a significant part of the 2008 season.  Keep a close eye on him this spring.

  • Yovani Gallardo (MIL) has torn cartilage in his knee and will undergo surgery this week.  He'll miss four weeks and seems destined for the DL to start the year.

  • Curt Schilling (BOS) will miss a large part of the 2008 season after a shoulder injury was revealed last week.  Even when he does return, his recent production trend raises concerns.

  • Andy Pettitte (NYY) is a big risk this year.  Not to mention his age, or his decreased production in 2007, but the offseason he had this year will affect his season - especially at the outset.

  • Kelvim Escobar (LAA) has a shoulder injury that will most likely cost him the first couple of weeks in 2008.

  • Franklin Morales (COL) may spend 2008 in the bullpen to keep his arm fresh.

  • Joba Chamberlain (NYY) will start the year in the bullpen.  If he's successful and the Yankees rotation is performing well, do you really think they'll send him to AAA and then have him pitch out of the rotation?

  • Jamie Walker (BAL) will pitch in middle relief in 2008 due to the acquisition of George Sherrill who will be the closer.

  • Barry Bonds & Roger Clemens are both unsigned and haven't announced their impending retirements.  Regardless, they seem unlikely to play in 2008.
