Batting
-
Casey Kotchman -
3/3 with his 9th double.
-
Alex Rios - 4/7
with his 11th home run.
-
Michael Cuddyer -
4/5 with a walk and his 7th home run.
-
Jhonny Peralta -
2/4. He now has 2 consecutive 2 hit games
-
Gary Sheffield -
2/3 with his 7th double.
-
Travis Buck - 2/3 with his 5th home
run and his 19th walk. Buck has great peripheral numbers this
season with a slugging percentage of .524 and an OBP of .365.
His strikeout rate is high which is affecting his average, but if he
can fix that, he could be in for an outstanding second half.
-
Miguel Tejada - 3/5 with his 4th home
run. He now has 2 home runs in his last 3 games and he has
raised his slugging percentage up to .411. Tejada's power has
diminished greatly in the last 3 years, but few of us expected us to
hit less than 15 home runs. This could be a sign of things to
come, but I'd proceed with caution, at this point, I'd expect him to
end up closer to 15 home runs than 25. Along with these 4 home
runs, he has only 6 doubles.
-
Brian Roberts - 3/4 with his 17th
stolen base. He is now 15 for his last 32 with 4 extra base
hits and 4 steals. He also has 6 walks during this time and
now has a .405 OBP on the season to go along with his .310 BA.
-
Ian Kinsler - 2/4. He's now 11
for his last 31, raising his average from .224 to .248.
-
Manny Ramirez - 4/4 with a triple.
He's 8 for his last 12 with 4 extra base hits. He could be
just starting to heat up.
-
Kevin Youklis - 2/4 with his 15th
double. He's now hitting .352 on the year.
-
Kenji Johjima - 2/4 with his 7th home
run. He's now 10 for his last 24 with 3 doubles and 2 home
runs.
-
Shane Victorino - 3/5 with a triple
and a home run. He's 8 for his last 13 and is now hitting .286
with 10 doubles and 16 steals.
-
Kelly Johnson - 2/5 with his 12th
double.
-
Ryan Church - 2/5 with his 17th
double. A lot of doubles and a 24/30 k/bb ratio makes him an
appealing option. He's never really been given a fair shot at
a full time job, but that will change in 2007. His runs/rbi's
are probably limited by the lineup around him, but he should help in
all other categories.
-
Albert Pujols - 2/4 with 3 runs
scored. Guess who has a 10 game hitting streak? During
this time, he has raised his average from .239 to .291.
-
Carlos Delgado - 3/5 with his 4th and
5th home runs. He's enjoying the 5th spot in the lineup, and
is now 8 for his last 16.
-
Hunter Pence - 2/4. His 4th
consecutive 2-hit game, during which he's 8 for 15 with only one
strikeout.
-
Adam LaRoche - 2/4 with his 5th home
run. He's hitting better lately, his average is hovering right
around the mendoza line (.199).
-
Jason Bay - 3/4 with his 11th and 12th
doubles. He's hitting like a 2nd round pick should, with 5
hits in his last 7 at bats.
-
Xavier Nady - 2/5 with his 7th home
run. He is now 14 for his last 34 with 3 doubles and 3 home
runs.
-
Edwin Encarnacion - 2/4 with his 3rd
home run. He's hitting well since his callup, hitting 6 for 18
with 3 walks and only one strikeout.
-
Ryan Braun - 3/4 with his 1st career
home run. He's making us wonder whey he wasn't called up
earlier with a home run and a double in his 2 major leage games.
-
Geoff Jenkins - 2/3 with his 9th home
run. He's having a great rebound season and has eliminated the
'platoon' tag.
Pitching
-
Kelvim Escobar -
7 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk and 8 k's. He's now 6-2 with a 2.64
ERA.
-
Jeremy Accardo -
0.2 IP, 4 hits, 3 ER. His first runs allowed this year!
-
C.C. Sabathia - 7
IP, 6 hits, 1 walk and 6 k's. He's now 7-1 on the year, and
has a k/9 of 9.0.
-
Carlos Zambrano - 7.2 IP, 8 hits 1
walk and 8 k's. He's been inconsistent all season, so I'd
recommend avoiding him, but for those of you that are looking for
any sign of a hot streak, this was his best start of the season.
-
John Maine - 6 IP, 4 hits, 4 walks and
8 k's. His walks continue to be high, and his 8 k's were the
most in any of his May starts.
-
Brandon Webb - 7 IP, 7 hits, 1 walk
and 8 k's. He now has 67 k's in 77 IP, which translates to a
k/9 of 7.8 which represents a personal best since his rookie season.
During his rookie year, he did strikeout 172 in 180.2 IP, so the
talent is there.
5/26/07
Batting
-
Ichiro Suzuki -
2/3 with his 4th home run. His hit streak stands at 17 games
now, and he has seen his average rise from .260 prior to the streak
starting to .340 as of this morning. He also has 11 steals
this month vs. 1 in April.
-
Jose Vidro - 2/5
with his 3rd home run. Vidro has been very consistent this
year and is now hitting .315 on the season. He's 2nd base
eligible, so he's not a horrible option, but he has displayed no
power and no speed so far. His 5 doubles, 3 home runs and 0
stolen base attempts reflect a limited upside.
-
Alex Gordon - 1/3
with his 7th double. He's making a run at .200.
-
Jhonny Peralta -
2/4. He's been on a little hot streak and is proving that his
2006 numbers were the exception and not the rule. His
strikeouts are a little high (38 in 161 AB's), but his walk rate and
power numbers are back to their 2005 form.
-
Carlos Guillen -
3/4 with his 4th triple of the year. His has a 9 game hit
streak intact, during which he has 4 doubles, a triple and 3 home
runs. He's looking like the top shortstop in the AL.
-
Alex Rios - 3/4
to extend his hitting streak to 6 games during which time his
average has risen from .270 to .299. His walk rate isn't all
that impressive, but his strikeout numbers are very good for someone
with 25 home run power. He also has improved his walk rate
this year, with 17 already compared to 35 in all of 2006.
-
Michael Cuddyer -
2/5 with his 6th home run. Cuddyer hasn't had the same level
of success that he did in 2007, but the season is still young and
there are no real immediate warning signs, his power and walk
numbers are down, but one big week could change that. He's not
helping or hurting you right now.
-
Robinson Cano -
2/3 with his 11th double. His average is all the way up to
.260 now.
-
Alex Rodriguez -
1/4 with his 19th home run. He's good.
-
Jorge Posada -
2/4 with his 15th double. I keep waiting for his average to
drop, but he's now sitting at .371.
-
Casey Kotchman -
3/5 with his 4th home run. He's increased his average from
.224 to .286 in the last 2 weeks. During this time he has 2
home runs, 2 doubles and a triple. He will hit for a good
average, but can he continue to his for power?
-
Mike Napoli - 1/3
with his 8th double. He continues to stay hot.
-
Elijah Dukes -
1/4 with his 9th home run. He was heating up before 'the
incident' and he continued that last night.
-
Kevin Youklis -
2/5. He's now hitting .350.
-
Michael Young -
2/4 with his 15th double. He's been heating up lately and has
raised his average from .228 to .245 during his mini 4 game hitting
streak.
-
Paul LoDuca -
4/5. He's caught fire recently with a 5 game hitting streak,
during which he is 12 for 20. No power though, only one double
during this time.
-
Carlos Delgado -
2/3. He's showed some signs of life since being moved back to
the 5th spot in the order, going 5 for his last 11 in the last 3
games.
-
Mark Reynolds -
5/5 with his 2nd and 3rd home runs. He's now hitting .393 on
the year since being called up from AAA earlier this month. He
hasn't spent much time above A ball but he has hit everywhere he's
been - in 248 at bats in AA and AAA he hit 16 doubles and 14 home
runs to go along with 31 walks. He will strike out a lot
though, as evidenced by his 332 k's in 1,216 at bats.
-
Carlos Quentin -
3/4 with 2 doubles. Hitting in the 8-spot in the lineup.
-
Stephen Drew -
2/4 for the 2nd straight game. He is showing signs of breaking
out of his season long slump.
-
Hunter Pence -
2/4 with 2 RBI. Another typical day at the office for Mr.
Pence.
-
Ken Griffey - 2/5
with his 11th home run.
-
Jason Bay - 2/3
with his 6th home run. He's had a quiet season so far, but the
28-year old could be in for a big 2nd half.
-
Kevin Kouzmanoff
- 2/4 with his 4th home run. He has an 8 game hitting streak
now, during which time he has 4 doubles and 3 home runs.
Strikeout rate is a concern, but he has only struck out 4
times during this streak.
-
J.J. Hardy - 2/4
with his 15th home run. He did go 3 games between home runs...
-
Rickie Weeks -
2/5 with a triple and his 8th stolen base. Weeks' has begun to
increse his average and if he can hit around .280 to go along with
his expected 20/30 season he would be a valuable commodity.
-
Ryan Howard - 1/4
with his 5th double. First game back from the DL.
-
Jimmy Rollins -
2/4 with 2 doubles. His 2nd consecutive 2-hit game.
Looks like he is getting back on track.
-
Albert Pujols -
3/5 with his 8th home run. We've been patiently waiting for
him to get back on track.
-
Alfonso Soriano -
3/5. He's now 5 for his last 9.
-
Derrek Lee - 2/5
with 2 more doubles.
-
Jeff Kent - 2/4
with his 8th home run. He's just a very consistent and solid
option at second base.
-
Russell Martin -
2/3 with a walk. He's now hitting .321 on the year and is
having a breakthrough season.
Pitching
-
Dan Haren - 7 IP,
2 hits, 1 walk and 3 k's. The odd thing about Haren's
dominance so far, is that his k/9 ratio has slipped from 2006.
He is sitting at 6.9 for the season vs. 7.1 last year.
-
Erik Bedard - 7
IP, 6 hits, 3 walks and 8 k's. Bedard has been masterful this
month, with a 2.12 ERA and a 41/13 k/bb ratio. He's one of the
best pitchers in the AL.
-
Felix Hernandez -
5.1 IP, 7 hits, 2 walks and 5 k's and he left the game early with
tightness in his back. This was his 3rd start since coming off
the DL after missing about a month of action, and in each start,
he's allowed more hits than innings pitched. He doesn't look
like the dominant pitcher he was before he was hurt, but don't cut
bait just yet.
-
Orlando Hernandez
- 6 IP, 2 hits, and 4 k's. Only his 6th start of the year, and
in 5 of them he's given up less than a hit per inning.
5/25/07
Batting
-
Gary Sheffield
2-4 with his 9th home run
-
Magglio Ordonez
4-4 with his 22nd and 23rd doubles.
-
Carlos Guillen
2-3 with his 5th and 6th home runs. He’s now
hitting .327 on the year with 20 walks and 21 strikeouts.
-
B.J. Upton 1-3
with 2 walks. A lot of discussion around Upton has centered on his
high strikeout totals, but don’t ignore his walk numbers which are
very good. He now has an OBP of .391 to go along with his .309
average.
-
Ichiro Suzuki 3-6
with his 3rd home run. He’s been on fire this month in
case you somehow didn’t notice.
-
Ty Wigginton 2-4
with his 9th home run. The home runs are appealing, but
the .279 OBP sure isn’t.
-
Jose Lopez 4-5
with a triple and his 6th home run. Lopez is only 23
years old and already have over 1,000 AB’s under his belt at the
major league level, so he won’t have great statistical evidence
showing what he is worthy of. His numbers in 2006, however, do show
some evidence of 15 home run power this season – last year he had 28
doubles and 10 home runs – so an improvement to 15 isn’t out of the
question.
-
Carl Crawford 2-4
with his 5th triple raising his average to an even .300.
-
Alexis Rios 2-2
with his 10th home run. He’s one of the top young
outfielders in baseball, and has been making great strides during
the month of May with 6 home runs and an 11/9 bb/k ratio during the
month.
-
Esteban German
4-5 leading off for KC. He got the start in LF yesterday and is now
hitting .301 on the year.
-
Ryan Garko 3-5 to
raise his average to .336. His bb/k ratio of 6/24 is a concern.
-
Connor Jackson
2-3 with his 6th double. He’s settled in nicely in the
#2 spot in the D’Backs lineup – only 8 extra base hits on the
season, 3 of which have come in the last 5 games. Very good bb/k
ratio of 21/14.
-
Hunter Pence 2-4
to raise his average to .348. He now has multiple hits in 4 of his
last 6 games.
-
Dan Uggla 2-3.
He’s now 9 for his last 17 with 3 doubles a triple and a home run.
-
Jimmy Rollins
2-5. He’s been in a horrible slump for most of this month, seeing
his average drop from .315 all the way to .265 prior to yesterday’s
game.
Pitching
-
Jeremy Bonderman
8 IP, 4 hits, 5 walks and 6 k’s. In his first start since his
return from the DL, he looked like the pitcher we expected coming
into 2007. This was his best start since April 24th.
Walks are high, but that is likely due to rust.
-
Micah Owings 9
IP, 9 hits, 1 bb and 8 k’s. As a starter during his minor league
career (consisting of one season), Owings k’d 7.3 per 9 and had a
2.6 k/bb ratio. Decent numbers, but nothing to give you the
impression that he is the next Randy Johnson. An impressive 16-2
record as a starter though.
-
Chris Young 7 IP,
3 hits, 2 walks and 10 K’s. Young has had a great month so far in
May with a 1.36 ERA which is due to his 32/12 k/bb ratio and only 20
hits allowed in his 4 starts.
-
John Smoltz 7 IP,
7 hits, no walks and 5 k’s. In his last two starts against arguably
the top two teams in baseball (Red Sox and Mets), he has thrown 14
scoreless innings, allowing 10 hits, 1 walk and 12 k’s.
-
Ryan Madson 2 IP,
2 hits, 2 walks and 3 k’s. He pitched the 8th and 9th
innings last night and could be the frontrunner to close for Philly
with Gordon and Myers both out.
5/24/07
Batting
-
Luis Castillo 3-5
to raise his average to .329. His average may look appealing, but
he also brings a total of two steals, 0 home runs and 7 RBI to the
table. He’s striking out at only half of his career rate (6% vs.
14%) so don’t expect this to continue.
-
Mark Teixeira 3-5
with his 15th double. He’s now hitting .386 in May vs.
.231 in April.
-
Jose Guillen 4-5
with his first steal of the season, to raise his average to .282.
-
Hideki Matsui 2-4
with his 4th home run – his average has been steadily
increasing this month.
-
Robinson Cano
2-4. He has an 8 game hit streak now and has raised his average
from .234 to .254.
-
Johnny Damon 3-5
with his 6th double. He’s been heating up lately, with 2
3-hit games against the Red Sox and is hitting .300 during the month
of May. Power is still lacking though.
-
Alex Gordon 2-4
with his 3rd home run. That’s 3 consecutive 2-hit
games. It looks like the worst is behind him.
-
John Buck 2-3
with his 8th home run and his 16th walk.
-
Mike Sweeney 1-4
with his 6th home run. That’s his 2nd
consecutive game with a home run. While Sweeney has never been a
huge home run hitter, he does own a career .300 average and was a
consistent 20 home run hitter only 2 years ago. You could do worse.
-
Jay Gibbons 2-3
to raise his average to a season-high .242.
-
Brian Roberts 3-3
with his 15th stolen base. His average is all the way up
over .300 now, rising from .210 in the past 5 weeks.
-
Bobby Crosby 2-4
and is now hitting .316 in May with 8 bb’s and 10 k’s.
-
Casey Kotchman
2-3 with his 8th double and a walk.
-
Magglio Ordonez
2-5 with his 11th and 12th home runs. Have
the MVP chants started yet?
-
Curtis Granderson
2-3 with his 8th home run.
-
Gary Sheffield
2-5 with his 6th double.
-
Mike Napoli 1-4
with his 5th home run. He has now homered in 3
consecutive games and he’s showing the same form that he showed when
he was called up in 2006.
-
Dan Uggla 3-6
with his 18th double, 2nd triple and 9th
home run. He’s hit .306/.392/.624 so far during the month of May.
-
Hanley Ramirez
3-4 with his 7th home run. He’s been outstanding this
year and is working his way toward a top 5 pick in 2008 drafts.
-
Chase Utley 3-5
with a triple and his 9th home run.
-
Ryan Church 3-5
with his 4th and 5th home runs. He hasn’t
been spectacular this year, but he’s a solid 5th OF.
-
Ryan Freel 3-5
with his 8th double and 2nd home run.
-
Kevin Kouzmanoff
2-4 with his 3rd home run. He has homered in two
consecutive games.
-
Carlos Delgado
2-4 and dropped to the 6th spot in the lineup.
-
David Wright 1-5
with his 8th home run and his 4th in 4 games.
He’s starting to look like the hitter he was in the first half of
2006.
-
Rafael Furcal
2-4. His average keeps rising – now hitting .305 on the year.
-
Hunter Pence 2-3
with a walk. He’s now hitting .341 on the year.
Pitching
-
Boof Bonser 5 IP,
6 hits, 2 walks and 6 k’s. I see a common theme amongst managers
this year – pitchers are pretty much getting pulled once they reach
100 pitches. Another productive start for Bonser though, and his
k’s continue to impress.
-
Miguel Batista 6
IP, 7 hits, 1 walk and 5 k’s. In every game this season he’s either
given up three or less earned runs or more than 6! Very
inconsistent.
-
Andy Pettite 7
IP, 9 hits, 1 walk and 2 k’s. His control has improved drastically
– only walking 1 per game in his last 3 starts, but he has also only
struck out 8 batters during this time (21.1 IP)
-
Curt Schilling 6
IP, 12 hits, 0 walks and 3 k’s. In his last 5 starts, he’s given up
more than a hit per inning. He’s looking like an increasingly
hittable pitcher – sell high if you still can.
-
Octavio Dotel 1
IP, 3 hits, 1 strikeout. First game back from the DL. He will be
eased back into the closer’s role.
-
Chad Gaudin 7.1
IP, 5 hits, 1 walk and 4 k’s. His ERA now stands at 2.58, but his
k/9 is only 6.7 and his k/bb is only 2.2. Warning signs aplenty.
-
Brett Myers 0.2
IP, 4 hits, 1 walk and 2 k’s. He also injured his shoulder and will
be placed on the DL shortly.
-
Jeff Francis 7
IP, 5 hits, 2 walks and 4 k’s.
-
Sean Marshall 7
IP, 4 hits, 2 bb’s and 8 k’s. He did strike out 9.2 per 9 during
his minor league career, so he does have value – especially in
NL-only leagues.
-
Oliver Perez 7
IP, 4 hits, 2 walks and 5 k’s. He’s been great this year, and as we
all know, he’s done this before.
-
Brad Penny 7 IP,
6 hits, 2 walks and 4 k’s. A solid rebound from his previous
outing. Strikeout’s per nine now stand at 5.6.
-
Barry Zito 7 IP,
4 hits, 2 walks and 2 k’s. Another solid rebound effort.
5/23/07
Batting
-
Alex Rios
3-5 with his 3rd stolen base of the year. Rios has quietly
been heating up this month and has hit .281/.382/.609 in May vs. the
.267/.304/.457 he put up in April. He's one of the lesser
known OF's, so you might be able to get a good deal on him.
-
Nick
Markakis 3-4 with his 12th and 13th doubles of the season.
He's been pretty average so far, but remember what he did in the 2nd
half of 2006. He's also still only 23 years old.
-
Justin
Morneau 3-5 with 2 home runs. He now has 13 home runs on the
year to go along with 32 RBI.
-
Ian Kinsler
2-4 with his 6th double. He has only one home run in the last
month, but he has also raised his average from .223 to .247 in the
last 5 days by going 8 for 20. Another hot streak could be
right around the corner.
-
Magglio
Ordonez 1-4 with his 10th home run.
-
Mike Napoli
2-3 with his 4th home run. He now has a 10 game hitting streak
with 3 home runs during that time, raising his average from .183 to
.253.
-
Alex Gordon
2-4 with his 6th double. He's just starting to catch fire.
-
Victor
Martinez 1-4 with his 6th home run. His power numbers are
getting better.
-
Kevin
Youklis 2-5. This is becoming the norm.
-
J.D. Drew
0-4. So is this.
-
Mike Lowell
2-4 with his 9th home run. His miracle season continues.
I was asked the other day about Lowell, and the one interesting fact
I found about him is that his strikeout rate this year is about 7%
vs. 14% during his career, so expect his numbers to drop simply due
to this fact.
-
Jim Thome
3-5 with his 6th home run, a walk and 5 RBI's in his return from the
DL. Welcome back!
-
Jermaine Dye
2-4 with his 10th home run. His average now stands at .230,
but at least he's contributing power.
-
Elijah Dukes
2-4. With the recent news about Dukes and his wife, this might
be the last time we see him for a while.
-
Kenji
Johjima 2-4 with his 6th home run. Raising his average to
.316.
-
Jayson Werth
2-4 with his first 2 home runs of the season.
-
Connor
Jackson 2-4 with his 5th double. His 3rd straight 2-hit game,
raising his average from .222 to .250.
-
Ken Griffey
Jr. 2-3 with his 10th home run.
-
Felipe Lopez
had the game of his life, 3-5 with 2 doubles and a home run.
He also had 6 RBI's. His 12/38 bb/k ratio still hasn't
improved though.
-
Kevin
Kouzmanoff 1-4 with his 2nd home run. He's been heating up
lately, hitting in 8 of his last 9 games and raising his average
from .108 to .189 during that time. However, his 10/29
bb/k ratio isn't a good sign.
-
Russell
Martin 1-4 with his 3rd home run. We've been waiting for the
home runs to develop - maybe this is the start.
-
Chris Duncan
2-4 with his 8th home run and his 9th double.
Pitching
-
A.J.
Burnett's rejuvenation continues with 6.2 IP, 6 hits allowed, 2
walks and 8 k's. His 5-3 record with a 4.14 ERA isn't
impressive, but his career high 9.0 k/9 certainly is.
-
Johan
Santana 7 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks and 13 k's. He's still rounding
into form.
-
John Danks 6
IP, 7 hits, 2 bb's and a strikeout. This was the worst outing
for him strikeout-wise, but he still hasn't allowed more than 4 runs
in a start all season.
-
Livan
Hernandez 8 IP, 9 hits, 1 bb and 8 k's. He can implode at any
time, and his k/9 ratio is still hovering below 5.0.
-
Rich Hill 6
IP, 6 hits, 2 walks and 8 k's. They look like good numbers,
but he managed to give up 5 runs during that time - mainly due to
the 4 home runs he allowed. His 3rd consecutive start allowing
4 or more runs. He will be fine though, he has struck out 21
in 17 innings during this time. It's been more bad luck than
anything, giving up 7 home runs during this time.
-
Angel Guzman
1.2 IP, 2 k's. If he pitches like this for much longer,
Dempster will be in the rotation next week.
-
Kyle Davies
8 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks and 3 k's. Davies started out the season
ok and did have decent strikeout numbers in 2006 as a 23 year old -
7.3 per 9, so he's worth keeping an eye on.
-
Ben Sheets
6.1 IP, 4 hits, 1 walk and 5 k's. Sheets has been somewhat of
a disappointment this year, mainly due to his low strikeout totals,
but that seems to be changing slowly - he has now k'd 18 in his last
20 IP.
-
Randy Wolf 7
IP, 3 hits, 3 walks and 4 k's. Another impressive start, but
one of his worst strikeout games of the season.
-
Tim Lincecum
8 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk and 4 k's. He out-dueled Oswalt again.

Batting
-
Kevin
Youklis 2-5 to raise his average to .342. He's hitting out of
his mind right now.
-
Johnny Damon
3-5 with 2 steals. He now has an 8 game hit streak.
-
Robinson
Cano 2-4 with his 9th double. He now has a 6 game hit streak
with 4 extra base hits during this time.
-
Jhonny
Peralta 2-4. He now has a 7 game hit streak during which he's
hitting .429
(12-28) with
3 home runs and a double.
-
Kenji
Johjima 2-4 to raise his average to .310. Quietly having a
good year behind the plate. Walk rate is cause for concern
though.
-
Nelson Cruz
2-5 with his 3rd home run to extend his hitting streak to 7 games.
He had a very successful minor league career, so this could be a
sign that he's starting to heat up.
-
Paul Konerko
3-5 with 3 runs scored. He's now 7 for his last 16.
-
Nick Swisher
3-5 with 5 RBI.
-
Jack Cust
2-3 with a strikeout and 2 walks. That's about right for him
these days.
-
Ryan
Zimmerman 3-5 with 12th double and 5th home run. He's now 5
for his last 9. Try to buy low.
-
Ken Griffey
2-4 with his 9th home run.
-
Carlos
Quentin 2-5 with his 2nd and 3rd home runs of the year. Grab
him now, he's just starting to heat up.
-
Brad Hawpe
1-3 with his 5th home run. He's now hitting .302 with 5 home
runs in the month of May.
-
Rafael
Furcal 2-4 with his 9th double.
-
Jeff Kent
1-4 with his 7th home run.
-
Prince
Fielder 2-4 with his 13th and 14th home runs. He's good.
-
Rickie Weeks
4-5 with 8th double. His average needed that. He's now
at .252, but contributes everywhere else.
Pitching
-
Chien-Ming
Wang 6.1 IP with 5 k's in picking up the win against the Red Sox.
Worth mentioning that this was a season high in strikeouts for Wang.
-
C.C.
Sabathia 5 IP, 8 hits, 1 walk and 4 k's.
-
Carlos Silva
- 4.1 IP, 9 hits, 1 walk. Matt Garza's stock is increasing
daily.
-
Noah Lowry -
7 IP, 6 hits, 3 walks and 3 k's. His ERA now stands at 2.70.
5/21/07
Batting
-
Brandon
Phillips 1-4 with his 8th home run. Building on his 2006
season with solid fantasy numbers so far.
-
Dan Uggla
3-4 with his 16th double. He has 3 doubles and 2 home runs in
the last week and has raised his average to a season-high .250.
-
Ichiro 2-3
to raise his average to .333 - from .286 a week ago.
-
Kevin
Youklis 3-3 with his 6th home run. He's now hitting .340 on
the season due to his .373 average during the month of May.
Should be a good candidate for 20 home runs, but his extra base hit
percentage is still sitting around 10%, which isn't anything
special.
-
Brian
Roberts 2-5 to raise his average to .297.
-
Ryan
Zimmerman 2-4 with his 2 doubles. He now has a modest 4 game
hit streak.
-
Hunter Pence
2-4 with his 3rd triple.
-
Mark
Teixeira 4-6 with 2 home runs. Finally, the game you've been
waiting for.
-
Victor Diaz
4-6 with 2 home runs - he now has 5 home runs in his last 21 AB's.
-
Ramon
Vazquez 3-3 with 5 RBI's. Hank who?
-
Alex Rios
1-4 with his 9th home run.
-
Pat Burrell
1-3 with his 6th home run. Five of which have come in his last
10 games.
-
Aaron Rowand
2-5 with his 7th home run.
-
Paul Konerko
2-4 with his 7th double. He now has a 3 game hit streak.
-
Conor
Jackson 2-4. He's now 4 for his last 9, raising his average to
.241.
-
Mark Teahan
3-6 with his 2nd triple. Quietly putting together a nice
season.
-
Ryan Shealy
3-5 with his 3rd double. He's been on fire since his return (9
for 17). He has 30 home run power, so grab him while you can.
-
Alex Gordon
2-5 with his first triple. He now owns a 4 game hit streak.
-
Geoff
Jenkins 3-5 with 5 RBI. His comeback year continues.
-
J.J. Hardy
2-4 with his 12th double.
-
David Wright
1-4 with his 7th home run. He's been on fire recently,
justifying his draft slot this year.
Pitching
-
Kelvim
Escobar - 8 IP, 3 hits, 2 walks and 5 k's. He's been
outstanding this year with only one bad start. His strikeouts
have been a little lower than you'd expect, so there is some cause
for concern, but he has traditionally had a k/9 around 8.0 so I'd
expect him to turn that around.
-
Justin
Verlander - 8 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk and 3 k's. He's not getting
the publicity he got last year, but his ERA now stands at 2.68 to go
along with his 5-1 record. His strikeout and walk rates are
pretty much in line with 2006.
-
Matt Morris
- 9 IP, 2 hits, 2 walks and 9 k's. Back in 2001, Morris was an
above average strikeout pitcher, but odds are that this will be the
best start of the season.
-
Jamie
Shields - 7 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks and 8 k's. His 5th straight
start of allowing 3 runs or less.
-
Kevin Gregg
- 1 IP, 3rd save. He looks to be the closer at least until
Owens returns from the DL.
-
Felix
Hernandez - 5 IP, 8 hits, 3 walks and 9 k's. Still working his
way back into form.
-
Brandon
McCarthy - 6 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks and 2 k's. His 4th straight
start with three or less runs allowed.
-
Carlos
Zambrano - 6.2 IP, 6 hits, 4 walks and 5 k's. Seven of the 10
hitters he allowed to reach base ended up scoring. Walks
continue to plague him.
-
Randy
Johnson 5.2 IP, 7 hits allowed, no walks and 10 k's. He leads
the majors since he returned and left after throwing 102 pitches.
-
Russ Ortiz
4.1 IP and 10 hits. How long can this continue?
-
Tyler
Clippard 6 IP, 3 hits, 3 walks and 6 k's. Great major league
debut for the underrated prospect who ranked
#7 on our pitching prospect list
this preseason.
