Batting
-
Paul Konerko - 2/3 with his 11th home
run. He's 4 for 9 during his current 3 game hit streak.
-
Michael Young - 3/4 to raise his
average to .290.
-
Alfonso Soriano - 3/4 with 2 doubles
(20) and a home run (12) to break out of a 3 for 16 slump.
-
Edwin Encarnacion - 2/4 with his 3rd
steal. He's now 7 for his last 16 and is hitting .327 since
his return (110 at bats) with 10 extra base hits and a 9/23 bb/k
ratio.
-
Terry Evans - 1/3 with his 1st home
run. His first major league start resulted in his first major
league home run. In 2006, he hit 33 home runs and stole 37
bases splitting time between A and AA. But before you get too
excited, his bb/k ratio was pretty bad (41/127) and he was
relatively old for an A ball level player (24).
-
Hunter Pence - 3/5 with his 7th home
run. He's hitting .351 on the year, but has only 6 walks.
How long can his hot streak continue?
-
Lance Berkman - 2/5 to extend his
hitting streak to 9 games. Somehow he doesn't have any home
runs and has only 2 RBI during this streak, but he is showing signs
of breaking out soon.
-
Josh Barfield - 2/3 with his 10th
double. He seems to have lost his power stroke, but he is
hitting .343 in the month of June.
-
Richie Sexson - 2/4 with his 12th home
run. Don't look now, but he's hitting over .200 now!
He's 6 for his last 15 with 2 home runs.
-
Frank Thomas - 2/4 with his 10th home
run. He looks like he's heating up - 5 for his last 14 with 2
home runs.
-
Aaron Hill - 2/4 with his 20th double
to break out of a 1 for 14 slump.
-
Ryan Braun - 2/4 with his 2nd triple.
-
J.D. Drew - 2/2 with his 10th double
and 6th home run. Breaking a 3-17 slump.
-
Manny Ramirez - 3/4 with his 11th home
run.
-
Dustin Pedroia - 2/5 with 2 doubles
(16).
-
Coco Crisp - 2/5 with his 4th home
run.
-
Eric Byrnes - 4/5 with a double (14)
and a home run (11). He's up to .318 on the year.
-
Akinori Iwamura - 2/4 with a walk.
He continues to do a great job getting on base - OBP of .425 on the
season and is 5 for his last 9 with a walk.
-
Aaron Miles - 5/7 to raise his average
up over .300.
-
Alex Gordon - 4/6 to raise his average
up to .230!
-
Magglio Ordonez - 3/4 as his average
shoots over .380.
-
Carlos Guillen - 2/5 with his 11th
home run.
-
Troy Tulowitzki - 2/3 with a walk.
He's hit safely in 6 of his last 7 games with 3 walks and only 2 k's
during that time. Very limited power this year, but a good
walk rate.
-
Carlos Beltran - 3/4. His first
multi-hit game in almost 2 weeks, and was previously in a 5 for 40
slump.
-
Nick Markakis - 2/5 - he's now 7 for
his last 13.

Pitching
-
Jon Garland - 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk and
6 k's. His k/bb ratio of 49/28 is unimpressive. He has
cut down on his h/9 this year, having allowed only 90 hits in 104.1
innings, which is the lowest of his career by far - expect that to
rise as the season wears on.
-
Dan Haren - 7 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks and
5 k's. The first time he's allowed 3 earned runs since April
13th.
-
Alan Embree - 2 IP, 3 k's to capture
his 8th save on the season. He's been great in June with an
8/0 k/bb ratio in 10.2 IP.
-
Jeff Weaver - 9 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks
and 5 k's. No, this isn't a missprint, his first win of the
season comes via a complete game shutout which drops his ERA down
below 9. Go figure.
-
Roy Halladay - 8 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk
and 4 k's.
-
Jeff Francis - 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk
and 9 k's. He's been outstanding lately with a 27/5 k/bb ratio
during the month of June.
-
Jeremy Guthrie - 8 IP, 4 hits, 1 walk
and 9 k's. His breakout season continues, with only 59 hits
and 14 hits allowed in 82 innings.
6/20/07
Batting
-
Ryan Howard - 3/5 with his 16th
home run. He has 10 home runs in his 88 at bats since
returning from the DL.
-
Jhonny Peralta - 3/5 with his 13th
double.
-
Ryan Garko - 3/4 with his 9th home
run. Breaking out of a 1 for 26 slump. He has too few
walks to be consistent, so it was only a matter of time until he
slumped.
-
Hunter Pence - 3/5 with his 6th home
run. Average is at .344, but bb/k ratio of 6/38 is a concern.
It might be time to sell high.
-
Reggie Willits - 3/4 with 2 steals
(18) while hitting back in the leadoff spot in the order.
-
Howie Kendrick - 2/4 with 2 doubles
(9). He's 7 for his last 13 and is starting to show some signs
of living up to the hype.
-
Juan Pierre - 2/4 with 3 steals (23).
-
Russell Martin - 2/4 with his 8th home
run. He's hitting more home runs lately, but his extra base
hit power has lagged with only 1 double and 5 home runs in his last
62 at bats.
-
Luis Gonzalez - 3/4 with his 16th
double. He's approaching .300 and is having a very
underappreciated year.
-
Ken Griffey - 2/4 with his 19th home
run.
-
Hanley Ramirez - 3/5 with a double
(18) and a home run (9). We haven't heard much from him
lately, but he's having a great season - firmly entrenched in the #3
spot in the order now. RBI's still are lagging.
-
Dan Uggla - 2/5 with a double (28),
home run (13) and a steal (2). Nice night.
-
Josh Fields - 1/4 with a home run (2).
Four extra base hits in his last 16 at bats.
-
Ichiro Suzuki - 2/4 with his 20th
steal. He's approaching .360 on the year.
-
Ian Kinsler - 2/3 with 2 home runs
(13). He now has a 4 game hitting streak. You can
probably buy on him cheap due to his low batting average, and his
relatively low strikeout total shows that he will rebound.
-
Magglio Ordonez - 3/3 with a double
(34). He's closing in on .380 for the year.
-
Gary Sheffield - 2/3 to raise his
averge to .295.
-
Curtis Granderson - 2/6 with his 22nd
double. He's also approaching .300 with a .295 average.
-
Chris Duncan - 2/3 with his 13th
home run. He's starting to heat up, 6 for his last 12 with 3
home runs.
-
Alex Gordon - 2/4 - he's now 14 for 35
in his last 9 games. Unfortunately, he hasn't walked during
this time, so he still has a way to go.
-
Joe Mauer - 2/4 with his 11th double.
He's 4 for his last 11 after a slow start following his return from
the DL.
-
Akinori Iwamura - 3/5 with a double
(6) and a home run (2). He's a great OBP guy, but looking like
a singles hitter with limited steal potential.
-
Chris Young - 3/6 with his 10th home
run.
-
Carlos Quentin - 2/4 with his 5th home
run. A solid prospect coming into the year, but he has been
very inconsistent.
-
Orlando Hudson - 2/5. An 8 game
hitting streak has him back over .300 for the year.
-
Johnny Gomes - 2/5. He's getting
regular PT with Dukes' slump/situation.
-
Corey Hart - 2/4 with his 13th steal.
-
Khalil Greene - 4/5 with his 9th home
run. He's 6 for his last 10 and has hit in 7 of his last 8
games.
-
Nick Markakis - 3/4. He's 5 for
his last 8 and has struck out only once in his last 27 at bats.
Pitching
-
Antonio Alfonseca - 1 IP, 3 hits.
His 2nd straight poor performance, but neither has been a save
opportunity.
-
Dan Wheeler - 1 IP, 1 hit, 1 k.
He's back in the closer's role with Lidge being placed on the DL.
-
Brad Penny - 7 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk and
5 k's. His breakout season continues.
-
Homer Bailey - 7 IP, 2 hits, 4 walks
and 3 k's. His 2nd major league start should be a signs of
things to come. Too early to judge him, but walks are high.
-
Tom Gorzelanny - 7 IP, 8 hits, 0 walks
and 6 k's.
-
Chad Durbin - 6 IP, 5 hits, 0 walks
and 5 k's. He's been inconsistent, but is capable of a win
every time he takes the mound. His 41/30 k/bb ratio scares me
away though.
-
Johan Santana - 9 IP, 4 hits, 1 k.
So, Wang strikes out 10 Mets, and Johan can only strike out 1??
-
Josh Fogg - 7 IP, 4 hits, 1 walk and 3
k's.
-
Josh Beckett - 6 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks
and 3 k's. He's 10-1 now, but has only 4 k's vs. 3 bb's in his
last 11 innings.
-
Ben Sheets - 9 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk and
4 k's.
-
Tim Lincecum - 4 IP, 5 hits, 4 walks
and 6 k's. He may lose his spot in the rotation before the
All-Star break.
-
Jake Peavy - 6 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks and
7 k's. Removed after 100 pitches, runs his record to 9-1.
6/18/07
Batting
-
Jeremy Hermida - 2/4 with his 6th home
run. He's starting another hot streak and is 6 for his last
14.
-
Alex Gordon - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 7 games, during which time he is hitting 12 for 27
with only 4 strikeouts.
-
Justin Morneau - 2/2 with his 20th
home run. He's slipping below the radar, compared to ARod and
Fielder, but has better numbers today than he did last year during
his MVP season.
-
Corey Hart - 3/6 with 2 home runs (7)
and a steal (12).
-
Geoff Jenkins - 3/4. He's 8 for
his last 17.
-
Nick Markakis - 2/4 with his 20th
double and 2 steals (6).
-
Jack Cust - 3/5 with his 9th home run.
He's 6/8 in his last 2 games.
-
J.D. Drew - 1/3 with 2 walks.
He's been hitting leadoff lately.
-
Manny Ramirez - 2/4 with his 10th home
run. He's on pace for the worst season of his career. He
is 35, but he is actually striking out at a lower rate than he did
in 2006, but isn't hitting for the power he always has.
-
Adam Dunn - 3/4 with 2 home runs (19).
He's up to .275 on the year - on pace for the highest average of his
career, but his strikeout rate is actually higher in 2007 than it
was in 2006 and is higher than his career mark.
-
Michael Young - 2/4 to extend his hit
streak to 10 games. Only 3 doubles during this time as well.
-
Adrian Gonzalez - 4/5 with 3 doubles
(21) and a home run (14). He's been slumping lately, but this
could spark a return to his April prowess.
-
Mike Cameron - 3/4 with 2 home runs
(8). A disappointing year, but he is still a 20/20 candidate.
-
Khalil Greene - 2/5 with his 8th home
run. He might be starting to heat up, and he hasn't been
consistent, but his strikeout rate is very low for a .230 hitter.
-
Johnny Gomes - 3/3 with 2 home runs
(4). Rumor has it that Dukes could be traded any day, but
regardless, Gomes is getting additional PT these days. He's
had home run success in the past and could be a big sleeper.
-
Jose Bautista - 2/5 with a home run
(6). He's enjoying the leadoff spot in Pittsburgh.
-
Josh Fields - 2/4 with his 2nd double.
That's three straight 2-hit games.
-
Rafael Furcal - 2/5 with his 1st home
run. We've waited all year for this moment and now we have it.
He's hitting with Pierre-like power and has been a big
disappointment.
-
Howie Kendrick - 3/5 with a double
(7). He's shown signs of life lately, and has his average back
in the .275 range.
-
Reggie Willits - 2/3 with 2 walks.
Yeah - he's a rookie, but why is he hitting at the bottom of the
order? He has three times as many walks as Figgins.
-
Orlando Cabrera - 3/5 with his 22nd
double. He's up to .342 on the year.
-
Alex Rodriguez - 2/2 with a double
(15) and home run (27).
-
Johnny Damon - 2/5 with his 4th home
run. Broke a 2/16 stretch.
Pitching
-
Fausto Carmona - 7 IP, 5 hits, 2 walks
and 5 k's. He runs his record to 8-2 with a 3.10 ERA. He
has picked up his strikeout rate recently as well, with 22 in his
last 27 innings vs. 22 in his first 69.1.
-
Micah Bowie - 6 IP, 4 hits, 3 walks
and 6 k's. A winning record (4-2) and a sub-4 ERA for the
Nationals is certainly newsworthy.
-
Brian Burres - 7 IP, 5 hits, 2 walks
and 9 k's. His best start of the year, he's struggled in the
past with his control and had a 19/17 k/bb ratio as a starter coming
into the game.
-
Kevin Millwood - 6 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks
and 10 k's. His best performance in years, and surprisingly
none of his strikeout victims were Adam Dunn. His ERA is still
over 7.50 and his strikeout ratio is barely over 2:1.
-
Justin Verlander - 6 IP, 7 hits, 2
walks and 6 k's. Not another no-hitter, but he continues to
impress with his strikeout rate - 35 in his last 34 innings.
He'll only get more valuable from a fantasy perspective.
-
Javier Vazquez - 6 IP, 7 hits, 1 walk
and 8 k's. A typical Vazquez performance - would you guess he
gave up 5 runs from these numbers?
-
Kelvim Escobar - 7 IP, 8 hits, 2 walks
and 8 k's.
-
Chien-Ming Wang - 8.2 IP, 6 hits, 1
walk and 10 k's. He almost doubled his previous season-high in
strikeouts. Even with his poor k/9 ratio he still posts a 3/1
k/bb.
