7/30/07
Batting
-
Alex Gordon - 1/4 with his 22nd
double. He hit 3rd yesterday for the first time this season.
He's 10 for his last 24 with 7 extra base hits - the move to the 3rd
spot should boost his RBI totals slightly over the remaining 2
months.
-
Ross Gload - 3/5 with a double (13).
He looks like he wants to hold onto the job even when Shealy
returns. He has a 8 game hitting streak, during which time he
is 13 for 27 with 6 extra base hits.
-
Bobby Abreu - 2/3 with a double (23)
and 2 walks to break a 2/17 slump.
-
Melky Cabrera - 3/5 with 2 doubles
(14). He is 9 for his last 18 with 5 extra base hits.
-
Nick Markakis - 3/5 with 2 doubles
(29).
-
Miguel Tejada - 3/5 in his 3rd game
back from the DL. He's 5 for 13 with a double since his
return.

He's 13 for his last 36 with 6 doubles.
-
Adrian Beltre - 2/4 with his 16th home
run to extend his hitting streak to 5 games. He's having the
best season since 2004.

fire since his return from the DL with a .367 average and 2 home
runs in 30 at bats.
-
Kurt Suzuki - 2/3 with a double (3)
and a walk - breaking a 0-10 slump. He has a 5/1 bb/k ratio in
his last 9 games.
-
Willy Mo Pena - 2/3 with a double (8).
Being showcased for a potential trade?
-
Kevin Youklis - 2/4 to break a 2-17
slump. His .307 average is the lowest it's been since the
middle of May.
-
Manny Ramirez - 1/4 with a home run
(18). His 7th home run since the break.
-
Akinori Iwamura - 2/5 to extend his
hitting streak to 5 games. He's 7 for 16 during this time.
-
B.J. Upton - 1/4 with his 13th home
run. Hitting well, but no steals since his return from the DL.
-
Chone Figgins - 3/5. He's now 11
for his last 19 with 8 runs in his last 4 games.
-
Casey Kotchman - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 11 games. He has 5 doubles during this time
and looks like he's on the verge of another power stretch with
doubles in 4 consecutive games.
-
Jose Reyes - 2/3 with 2 doubles (24)
and a steal (49).
-
J.J. Hardy - 3/5. He's hitting
.219 since June 1st with 4 doubles and 3 home runs.
Surprisingly, he has a 15/17 bb/k ratio during that time vs. a 16/37
ratio over the first two months. He's not as bad as he's been
lately, but he's not as good as he was over the first 2 months
either.
-
Russell Martin - 3/4 with 2 doubles
(25).
-
Jeff Kent - 4/5 with 3 RBI. He
now has a 10 game hitting streak and is hitting .423 in July with 5
home runs and 17 RBI.

(20). He has homered in 4 of his last 6 games.
-
Jimmy Rollins - 3/4 with a triple
(14).
-

(28) and a home run (25).
-
Hanley Ramirez - 2/5 with a double
(31).

He's 12 for 25 since July 17th and could become a regular player
while Pence is out if he can stay hot.
-
Eric Munson - 3/5 with a home run (4).
-
Kevin Kouzmanoff - 2/6 with his 11th
home run. He has a 6 game hitting streak.

ratio with San Diego.
-

and a home run (14) to break out of a 6 for 49 slump.
-
Chipper Jones - 1/1 with a double (23)
and 5 RBI. What a bizarre stat line - came from 2 sacrifice
flies and a bases clearing double.
-
Jeff Franceour - 3/5 with 2 doubles
(27)

Pitching
-
C.C. Sabathia - 7.2 IP, 6 hits, 0
walks and 11 k's. He now has 18 strikeouts in his last 14.2
innings while allowing only 11 hits and no walks. Safe to say
that he's back to his early season form.
-
Matt Garza - 6 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks and
11 k's. His best start of his major league career, and he
lowered his ERA to 1.37. His walks are a little high, 10 in
26.1 innings, but strikeouts are impressive (24).
-
Daisuke Matsuzaka - 6.1 IP, 8 hits, 1
walk and 6 k's.
-
Scott Kazmir - 6 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk
and 8 k's. He's been great since the All-Star break, with 21
k's in 19.2 innings and only 14 hits allowed. His 8 walks are
high, but is a good number for him.
-
Jeremy Bonderman - 2.1 IP, 9
hits, 3 walks and 4 k's. As bad as these number look, he
allowed 11 of the 12 baserunners to score. A horrible start
that will skew his numbers for the rest of the year, but he's still
a top tier pitcher. Pounce on him if you can.
-
Shawn Marcum - 8 IP, 2 hits, 0 walks
and 8 k's. His best start since July 1st and his best
strikeout performance since June 16th.
-
John Maine - 5 IP, 1 hit, 0 walks and
5 k's. A sub 3.00 ERA and a 12-5 record. It's time to
start taking him seriously - his peripheral numbers at the beginning
of the year were a little overinflated due to the fact that he was
walking a lot of hitters (34 in his first 61.1 innings), but in his
last 66 innings, he has issued only 12 walks.
-
Yvonni Gallardo - 5 IP, 4 hits, 2
walks and 7 k's. Good peripheral numbers, but he allowed 4 of
the 6 baserunners to score.
-
Carlos Zambrano - 7.1 IP, 2 hits, 3
walks and 6 k's.
-
Ian Snell - 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 walks and
7 k's. His best start since July 4th and his most walks issued
since June 23rd.
-
Kyle Kendrick - 7 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk
and 4 k's. His 23/15 k/bb ratio is very unimpressive, and he
doesn't have a minor league history of very good strikeout or
control numbers either.
-
Tim Hudson - 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk and
5 k's.
7/26/07
Batting
-
Greg Zaun - 3/4 with a double (10) and
a home run (5). He's not a full time player, but he does have

-
Alex Rios - 2/5 and is up to .307 on
the season. He's hitting .386 since the All-Star break.
-

the season.

to extend his hitting streak to 4 games during which time he has 3
doubles and a home run.

and a stolen base (26). He's up to .325 on the year.

streak and is 7 for 13 during that time.
-
Reggie Willits - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 3 games. Only one stolen base since June
19th.
-
Garret Anderson - 3/4 with a double
(18). He's having a great month, hitting .373 with 8 doubles
since July 1st.
-
Mike Piazza - 3/5 with his 3rd home
run. His 2nd in the last 3 games.
-
Ryan Raburn - 4/5 with a double (2)
and 2 home runs (3). He's a 26 year old rookie with solid
power/obp numbers in AAA the last two years - 98 extra base hits and
96 walks in 922 at bats. Strikeouts are high (229), but not
absurdly so. Possibly trade bait?
-
Curtis Granderson - 2/5. He has
4 multi-hit games in his last 5 games played.
-
Josh Fields - 2/4 with a home run (8).
He has 3 home runs in his last 4 games.
-
Craig Monroe - 2/5. He's 6 for
his last 20 with 2 home runs, but he also has 7 k's during that
time.
-

He's walked in 5 of his last 6 games, but has only one extra base
hit since July 7th.

time.

hitting streak to 6 games. No extra base hits and 2 steals
during this time.

(29) and a triple (5).

is up to .331 on the year.

for his last 20.

He's approaching a .270 average.
-
Connor Jackson - 2/4 with a double
(18). He's 7 for his last 20 with 2 doubles and a home run.
His strikeouts have picked up recently though, with 6 of his 32 k's
coming in the last week.
-
Paul LoDuca - 2/4 with 2 doubles (13).
He's 4/8 with 3 doubles in the series so far.
-
Jason Bay - 1/3 with a home run (16).
His 3rd home run in 2 days.
-
Jeff Franceour - 2/4 with a double
(24). He's hitting .382 since July 18th with 4 walks!
Pitching
-
Jesse Litsch - 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk
and 4 k's. Since his recall he has sported a 2-2 record with a
2.22 ERA. That is a very misleading number though - his WHIP
during that time is 1.44 and he has a k/bb ratio of 12/9.
-
Joe Blanton - 6 IP, 11 hits, 0 walks
and 3 k's. His fourth consecutive start of allowing 10+ hits.
-
Jose Contreras - 4.2 IP, 12 hits, 9
runs, 3 walks and 3 k's. That doesn't help his trade value.
-
Erik Bedard - 6 IP, 6 hits, 2 walks
and 8 k's.
-
Josh Beckett - 8 IP, 4 hits, 0 walks
and 7 k's. Strikeouts have picked back up lately, with a 34/5
k/bb ratio in his last 4 starts (28 innings).
-
Fauston Carmona - 8 IP, 4 hits, 2
walks and 6 k's. In July, he is 5-0 with a 1.57 ERA with 30
k's in 34.1 innings. His strikeout rate has improved every
month, from 3.1 in April, up to 7.9 in July.
-
Aaron Cook - 9 IP, 7 hits, 0 walks and
2 k's. Minimal strikeouts, but he does have a 2.51 ERA and a
3-1 record in hist last 6 starts.
-
Matt Albers - 5 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk and
5 k's. His first start in a month, and he's pitched well since
he was recalled at the end of June. In July, he has allowed
only 9 hits in 14.1 innings while striking out 12.
-
Cole Hamels - 7 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk and
6 k's.
-
Ted Lilly - 7 IP, 6 hits, 3 walks and
2 k's. Only 3 strikeouts in his last 12 innings, but he's won
each of his last 6 starts.
-
Adam Wainwright - 5 IP, 9 hits, 1 walk
and 7 k's. Another good strikeout performance, but a poor
outing overall - his worst since mid-May.

and 8 k's. He has 30 strikeouts in his last 26.2 innings.
-

4 k's.
-
Chuck James - 6 IP, 7 hits, 2 walks
and 5 k's. Not a great strikeout pitcher, but has a 1.47 ERA
since June 29th. Somehow he's only 2-1 in these 5 starts.

-
Vernon Wells - 2/4 with a double (27)
and a home run (14).
-
Travis Buck - 4/5 with a double (14),
a home run (7) and a stolen base (2). He's a solid breakout

boost his average up to .359 on the year.
-
Derek Jeter - 4/6 with a double (26).

-
Carlos Guillen - 2/5. He has

(27).

Still hitting for a decent average at .263.
-
Ryan Braun - 2/4.
-
Lastings Milledge - 3/3 with a home

his last 12 with a double and a home run.

WHIP.
-
Dustin McGowan - 7.1 IP, 4 hits, 3
walks and 5 k's.
-
John Rheinecker - 7 IP, 6 hits, 1 walk
and 4 k's. He's not a high level pitching prospect, his minor
league numbers were very ordinary.
-
Daniel Cabrera - 7 IP, 1 hit, 5 walks
and 3 k's. Very odd performance, and he's now walked 12 in his
last 18 innings.
-
Jamie Walker - 1 IP, 1 hit. His
2nd save in 3 days. He could take over the closing job in
Baltimore with Ray possibly heading to the DL.

and 8 k's. Typical Kazmir performance - good k's, too many
walks.

sign.

best outing in July.

Brad Wilkerson - 2/4 with a home run
(15). He's hitting well lately going 7 for his last 20 with 2
doubles and a home run. More importantly, he has a 3/4 bb/k

but he could be a nice 2nd half pickup in deeper leagues.

a home run (20).
-
Frank Thomas - 2/3 with 2 home runs
(16).

-
Mike Jacobs - 2/4 with a home run (8).
His 2nd home run in 2 days.
Pitching
-
Jon Lester - 6 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks and
6 k's. Obviously a great personal story, but the results were
good as well - his walks were a little high, which he's struggled
with throughout his career, but other numbers are good. He
could be a factor down the stretch.

stingy lately allowing only 20 hits in his last 25 innings.
7/23/07

double (21). He has limited power/speed, but he's making it
tough to ignore him by hitting .391 in July.

Pitching
-
Brian Bannister - 7 IP, 4 hits, 1 walk

strikeout rate (49 in 93 innings), don't expect many more.
-
Jamie Shields - 3.1 IP, 10 hits, 4
walks and 1 strikeout. This outing jumps his ERA up over 4.00
where it will probably stay for the rest of the year. Only 11
strikeouts (total) in his last 4 starts.

and 8 k's. His 2nd straight good outing since the All-Star

and 3 k's. He's allowed a total of 8 hits and 1 run in his
