Batting
-
Casey Kotchman - 1/4 with a double
(17). He now has a 5 game hitting streak and his double
yesterday was his first extra base hit in over a month. He
also has only 2 strikeouts in his last 18 at bats. Looks like
he's starting to see the ball better.
-
Delmon Young - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 11 games. No steals, no home runs and only 1
walk during this time though.
-
Chone Figgins - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 5 games.
-
Ramon Vazquez - 3/4 with a double (8).
He's filling in for Michael Young, and has been hitting well lately,
hitting safely in 5 of his last 6 games.
-
Vernon Wells - 2/4 with his 25th
double.
-
Aaron Hill - 2/3 with a triple (2).
He's hitting .389 since July 7th with 4 doubles and a home run.

-
A.J. Pierzynski - 3/4 with 3 RBI.
He's 11 for his last 25.
-
Tony Graffanino - 2/4 with a double
(7) and a home run (8). Weeks might have a difficult time
winning the job back if he continues to hit like this.
-
Andruw Jones - 2/3 with a home run
(19). His 5th home run in his last 10 games.
-
Jeff Franceour - 2/5 and he's 5 for
his last 11.
-
Barry Bonds - 3/3 with 2 home runs
(19). Slump over.
-
Jacque Jones - 4/5. He's not
playing full time and even when he does, he has limited power and
speed.
-
Alfonso Soriano - 3/5 with 2 doubles
(27). Breaking out of a 1-16 slump.
-
Aramis Ramirez - 3/5 with a double
(18). He has a 5 game hitting streak and his average is up to
.320.
-
Troy Tulowitzki - 1/5 with a home run
(11). He hit 2 home runs from April 1st through June 6th and
has hit 9 from June 7th through July 20th. The 22 year old has
progressed quickly.
-
Ruben Gotay - 3/4. He's up to
.354 on the year, and it's tough to hit .300 with 36 k's in 152 at
bats.
-
Rafael Furcal - 3/6 with a double
(17).
-
James Loney - 3/5. He's hitting
.374 on the year with 11 walks and 14 k's.

Pitching
-
Kelvim Escobar - 7.2 IP, 9 hits, 3
walks and 5 k's. He's allowed a total of 2 earned runs in his
last 3 starts.
-
Andy Sonnanstine - 7 IP, 8 hits, 0
walks and 6 k's. He has a very impressive 44/7 k/bb ratio
through his the first 9 games of his career. He's somehow
given up 11 home runs in those 9 starts which he should cut down on
in the future.
-
C.C. Sabathia - 6 IP, 9 hits, 1 walk
and 2 k's. Another poor outing, but he did get his 13th win.
A possible buy low candidate from some people that might be looking
to sell.
-
Jeremy Bonderman - 6.2 IP, 9 hits, 1
walk and 6 k's. In his last 4 starts, he's allowed a total of
8 earned runs and has a 27/5 k/bb ratio.
-
Daisuke Matsuzaka - 5 IP, 2 hits, 6
walks and 6 k's. Struggled with his control - he had walked a
total of 5 hitters in his previous 4 starts.
-
Javier Vazquez - 6.1 IP, 9 hits, 2
walks and 5 k's. He's 4-0 in his last 5 starts with 36 k's and
only 7 walks.
-
Yvonni Gallardo - 6 IP, 3 hits, 2
walks and 4 k's. He's filling in for Sheets and should be a
regular starter for at least the next month.
-
Tim Hudson - 7 IP, 5 hits, 1 walk and
3 k's. Good control numbers, but strikeouts (81 in 136
innings) aren't impressive. In short, he looks like the old
Tim Hudson again.
-
Chris Young - 7 IP, 2 hits, 3 walks
and 6 k's. All of his walks were issued to Ryan Howard.
Lowered his ERA to 1.85. Has to be the front-runner for the NL
Cy Young.
-
Cole Hamels - 7 IP, 2 hits, 1 walk and
3 k's. A total of 5 k's in his last 2 starts.
7/19/07

Paul Konerko - 1/5 with his 20th home
run. He s hitting .338 with 13 home runs, 25 walks and 22 k's

Akinori Iwamura - 3/4 with 3 more
singles.
-

hitting streak which is now up to 9 games.
-
Reggie Willits - 2/4 to break an 0-9
skid. His average was down to .305.
-
Kurt Suzuki - 0/4. He's 0/6
since taking over the starting catching job. He was a very
good plate discipline guy during his time in the minor leagues, so
he should adapt quickly.

(36) and a home run (15).

during the series against Boston.

-
Bobby Abreu - 2/4 to break a 0-13
streak.
-
Hideki Matsui - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 13 games.
-
Rajai Davis - 2/4. The rookie
isn't playing full time, but with 7 walks and 5 steals in only 45 at
bats he could be a good buy for a team looking for steals down the
stretch if he starts playing full time. Don't expect many
(any) home runs though - he had a total of 21 in over 2,200 minor
league at bats.
-
Brad Hawpe - 1/4 with a home run (17).
Quietly putting up good numbers.
-
Andre Ethier - 1/2 with a home run (8)

-

His playing time is limited, but when on the field he's been very
productive. albeit with limited power.
-
Carlos Delgado - 2/4 with a home run
(15). He's heating up.
Pitching
-
Mark Buerhle - 6.1 IP, 10 hits, 1 walk
and 3 k's. It wasn't pretty, but he picked up his 7th win and
lowered his ERA to 2.91 on the year.
-
Scott Kazmir - 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk
and 6 k's. He's only allowed 1 earned run in his last 2 starts
combined. His strikeouts have never been a concern, and his
control was much better last night.
-
Lenny DiNardo - 7 IP, 3 hits, 3 k's.
He's been very good in his last 3 starts with a 0.98 ERA, but only 8
k's in total.
-
Roger Clemens - 6 IP, 9 hits, 1 walk
and 3 k's. His ERA is back under 4.00.

and 5 k's. His best start since June 2nd.
-
Matt Cain - 4 IP, 4 hits, 5 walks and
3 k's. He's now 3-11 despite a sub 4.00 ERA.
-
Carlos Zambrano - 5 IP, 2 hits, 2
walks and 3 k's. Running his record to 12-7.
-
Greg Maddux - 5 IP, 4 hits, 6 k's.
Vintage Maddux - only needed 65 pitches.
7/18/07
Batting
-
Alex Gordon - 3/4 with a double (16).
As we
said yesterday, he's been showing
signs of heating up lately.
-
Julio Lugo - 3/4 with 2 doubles (5) to
extend his hitting streak to 7 games. During this time he's 14
for 26 with 3 steals.

to extend his hitting streak to 7 games.

(25). He now has extra base hits in back/back games for the
first time since June 1st.
-
Kenny Lofton - 3/5 with a triple (3).
-
Mark Teixeira - 0/1 with 4 walks.
Lofton/Young and Tex were on base 14 times in 17 plate appearances
last night.
-
Frank Thomas - 3/4 with a double (14).
His average (.258) is the highest it's been since the end of April
due to a .333 average in July. Strangely enough, his 2 walks
and 10 k's during the month is his worst ratio during any month this
season.
-
Melky Cabrera - 3/4. Hitting for
a decent average, but no power or speed.
-
Vernon Wells - 1/4 with a walk.
With Reed Johnson back in the lineup Wells has been moved back into
the #3 hole. A strange move considering his 1.044 OPS in the
leadoff spot vs. .672 hitting 3rd. Rios moves back to the 2nd
spot in the order after putting up a 1.131 OPS in the 3-hole.
-
Jose Vidro - 3/4 with his 13th double.
He has a total of 16 extra base hits on the year, 4 of which have
come since July 6th. He's doing his best to hold off the
inevitable Adam Jones promotion.
-
Nick Markakis - 4/5 with a double
(27). He's hot.
-
Corey Patterson - 2/5 to extend his
hitting streak to 6 games (5 of which have been multi-hit games).
-
Jay Gibbons - 2/4 with a home run (6).
A very disappointing season, and he's now a part-timer.
-
Ty Wigginton - 4/4 with a double (20).
His 2nd straight 4/4 game and he's boosted his average almost 20
points during that time.
-
B.J. Upton - 3/4 with a walk.
He's been moved up to the third spot in the order and is 7 for 11
since his return from the DL.
-
Delmon Young - 2/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 9 games. He's closing in on .300.
-
Chone Figgins - 3/4 with a steal (25).
-
Ron Belliard - 2/4 with a home run (5)
to extend his hitting streak to 10 games.
-
Dmitri Young - 2/4 with his 26th
double to extend his hitting streak to 9 games.
-
Hunter Pence - 2/5 with a home run
(12). He has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games, but his
walk rate is still a concern.
-
Eric Byrnes - 3/5 with 2 doubles (18).
-
Tony Graffanino - 2/3 with a home run
(7). He's taking over the 2b job from Rickie Weeks for the
time being.
-
Garrett Atkins - 3/5 with a home run
(13)
-
Troy Tulowitzki - 2/5. He has
hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games.
-
Hanley Ramirez - 2/3 with a double
(25) and a home run (15).
-
Carlos Delgado - 2/4 with a walk.
He's hitting .365 with 2 home runs in July and more importantly, has
7 walks vs. 5 strikeouts.
-
Brandon Phillips - 3/5. One day
after his 11 game hitting streak was broken. He's hitting .362
with 5 home runs in July.
-
Kelly Johnson - 2/4 with a double (16)
and a triple (7). He's up to .290 on the year and is improving
his strikeout rate each month. Down to 15% in June/July vs.
20% in Apr/May.
-
Shane Victorino - 5/7 with a triple
(3) to extend his hitting streak to 8 games. A breakout season
for the 26 year old.
-
Aaron Rowand - 5/6 with 3 doubles (27)
and a home run (13).
-
Pat Burrell - 2/4 with a home run
(12). He's hitting .483 since July 2nd with 4 home runs.
-
Chase Utley - 3/6 with 2 doubles (39).
-
Matt Kemp - 2/5 to extend his hitting
streak to 4 games.
Pitching
-
Matt Garza - 7 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk and
3 k's. He still hasn't given up an earned run this season.
-
Nate Robertson - 7 IP, 3 hits, 2 walks
and 5 k's. He's been inconsistent, but should be good
for wins.
-
Chad Gaudin - 6 IP, 8 hits, 6 walks
and 4 k's. His 2nd straight game allowing 5 runs - which
shouldn't be a surprise. He now has 74 k's and 59 walks on the
year.
-
Andy Pettitte - 7 IP, 7 hits, 3 walks
and 7 k's. After consecutive 8 run outings to open the month,
he's rebounded nicely in his last 2 starts, allowing only 4 runs
combined.
-
Roy Halladay - 7 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks
and 6 k's. His best start since the end of June. His 10
wins mask an average ERA, WHIP and strikeout total.
-
Jeremy Guthrie - 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 walks
and 3 k's. A nice rebound after his last start - a 3.2 inning
affair.
-
Jamie Shields - 7 IP, 7 hits, 1 walk
and 2 k's. He has only 4 k's in his last 13 innings.
-
Barry Zito - 7 IP, 5 hits, 0 walks and
8 k's. The last time he didn't walk anyone in a start was June
16th. Of 2006!
-
Orlando Hernandez - 7 IP, 2 hits, 2
walks and 4 k's.
-
Bronson Arroyo - 7 IP, 3 hits, 2 walks
and 9 k's. Tying his season high in strikeouts.
7/17/07
Batting
-
Dustin Pedroia - 2/4 with his 4th home
run. His first extra base hit in 10 days and his first home
run in a month. Good average, but limited home run power.
-
Manny Ramirez - 1/4 with his 13th home
run. He now has 2 home runs since the break.
-
Jose Guillen - 2/4 with a double (16).
He now has a 7 game hitting streak.
-
Ichiro Suzuki - 2/3 with a walk and a
stolen base (24).
-
Josh Fields - 2/3 to break a 3/24
slump.
-
Jermaine Dye - 2/5 with a double
(15). His 3rd straight 2-hit game.
-
A.J. Pierzynski - 2/5 with a double.
He has had 2 hits in 3 of his last 4 games.
-
Jim Thome - 3/4 with a double (9).
He's 6 for 18 since the break.
-
Victor Martinez - 1/3 with a home run
(17).
-
Franklin Gutierrez - 4/5 with a double
(3) and a home run (5). His numbers in the minors were good,
but not great. He's been a good doubles hitter and that should
translate to home runs at some point down the road.
-
Johnny Damon - 0/4. He's aged
quickly, hitting .219 since June 1st. On the bright side, he
does have a 8 game 'walking' streak during which time he has 10
walks and only 1 strikeout.
-
Hideki Matsui - 2/4 with a home run
(14). He now has 6 home runs in his last 10 games and has an
11 game hitting streak.
-
Travis Buck - 1/2 with a double (12)
and 2 walks. His 3rd game back from the DL, and he looks like
he's back to normal, hitting doubles and taking walks.
-
Mark Teixeira - 2/4. He has a 6
game hitting streak overlapping his time on the DL.
-
Jeremy Hermida - 2/4. He's been
hitting well since July 1st, hitting .360 with 3 home runs.
-
Chris Duncan - 2/3 with a home run
(18). He's 7 for his last 15 with 2 home runs and a 4/3 bb/k
ratio.
-
Yuniel Escobar - 3/4 with a walk.
He's 5 for 9 in the last 2 games, but looks like a singles hitter
with limited OBP ability. He's only 24, so he might be worth a
flier in keeper leagues, but don't expect much in 2007, but 52 extra
base hits and 7 steals in 656 minor league at bats doesn't excite
me.
-
Edwin Encarnacion - 2/5 breaking an o
for 12 streak.
-
Chris Young - 2/4 with his 14th home
run. He's picked it up since the break, going 5 for 14.
-
Mark Reynolds - 2/4 with his 7th home
run.
-
Lance Berkman - 2/4. His 2nd
straight 2-hit game and his average is up to .265 on the year.
-
Dmitri Young - 2/3 with his 9th home
run. He now has an 8 game hitting streak during which time he
has only 5 strikeouts.
-
Michael Barrett - 3/4. He's
starting to hit well in San Diego, 6 for his last 20 with 2 doubles
and only 1 strikeout.
-
Ryan Doumit - 2/5. He's 8 for
his last 23 with 3 home runs, but his 42 k's in 175 at bats shows
that he will be a streaky hitter. Ride him while he's hot -
especially since he's a catcher.
-
Matt Kemp - 1/4 with his 4th home run.
He's making it tough to keep him out of the lineup.
-
Jeff Kent - 1/2 with his 12th home
run. Quietly having a productive season.
-
Chase Utley - 2/4 with his 37th
double. He's on pace for 65 doubles.
Pitching
-
Kason Gabbard - 9 IP, 3 hits, 1 walk
and 8 k's. He never had a 'breakthrough' minor league
campaign and actually struggled with his control putting up a bb/9
of 4.0 during his minor league career. One area in which he
excelled however is hr/9, which for his minor league career was only
0.62. If he sticks in the rotation, he will get wins and could
be a solid sleeper in AL-only leagues. He's 3-0 already.
-
Kei Igawa - 5 IP, 7 hits, 4 walks and
7 k's. A new career high in strikeouts.
-
Rich Hill - 8 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks and
3 k's. His longest outing in over a month.
-
Tim Lincecum - 6.1 IP, 2 hits, 5 walks
and 8 k's. His 37 walks in only 78 innings is a concern, but
the 87 k's make up for it.
-
Brad Penny - 7 IP, 4 hits, 3 walks and
8 k's. His 2nd highest strikeout total of the season.
7/16/07
Batting
-
Billy Butler - 1/4 with his 7th
double. He now has a 6 game hitting streak and has only 5
strikeouts in his last 36 at bats to go along with 3 walks.
-
Alex Gordon - 1/3 with a walk.
He's mired in another slump, going 3 for his last 19, but he also
has 3 walks vs. 3 k's during this same time period. His
strikeout rate decreased every month from April through June, so
this may be your last chance to 'buy low'.
-
Ryan Garko - 2/3 with his 11th home
run to extend his hitting streak to 9 games. He's been an
extra base hit machine lately with 8 of his 26 extra base coming
during this streak. Walk rate is still a concern with him
though - only 17 in 253 at bats this year.
-
Mark Teahan - 2/4. He has a 4
game hitting streak and has quietly been putting up decent numbers.
His power has been much lower than expected however, with only 26
extra base hits in 336 at bats. Not great numbers for an
OF/CI.
-
Eric Chavez - 2/4 with his 15th home
run. Good power numbers on the year, but a ton of strikeouts
and he still can't hit lefties.
-
Joe Mauer - 3/4 with his 6th stolen
base. Taking a page out of Russell Martin's playbook, and is
running at the highest rate of his career.
-
Jermaine Dye - 2/4 with 2 home runs
(15). He is now 7 for 17 with 3 home runs since the All-Star
break.
-
Nick Markakis - 2/4 with a double (26)
and a stolen base (10). He's now 16 for his last 35 with a 6/4
bb/k ratio and 6 extra base hits.
-
Chone Figgins - 3/4 with 3 steals
(24).
-
Brandon Wood - 0/3. Top Angels
prospect called up with Kendrick on the DL again.
-
Mark Teixeira - 2/4 with his 13th home
run. His first game back from the DL.
-
Hideki Matsui - 2/5. He now has
a 10 game hitting streak during which time he has hit 5 home runs.
-
Brendan Harris - 0/3 with 2 walks.
He is only 3 for his last 17, but he has 5 walks and only one
strikeout during this time. His walk rate on the year is over
8% for the first time. This is a very good sign for future
production.
-
B.J. Upton - 3/4 with a double (17).
He's 4 for 7 with 4 walks since his return.
-
Carlos Pena - 2/5 with a home run
(22). Second straight game with a home run.
-
Ty Wigginton - 4/4 with a double.
Overall numbers are unimpressive, but he does have middle infield
eligibility in some leagues.
-
Curtis Granderson - 3/5 with a double
(26) and a stolen base (10).
-
Marcus Thames - 2/4 with a home run
(11). He's been full time lately and is 6 for his last 17
since the All-Star break, but does have 6 strikeouts during that
time as well.
-
Gary Sheffield - 2/3 with a double
(15) and 2 stolen bases (16).
-
Lyle Overbay - 3/3 with a double (16).
He has a 4 game hitting streak since his return from the DL.
-
Coco Crisp - 2/4 for his 2nd
consecutive 2-hit game.
-
Edgar Renteria - 4/5 with a stolen
base (9). His average is approaching .330, but his power isn't
anything special.
-
Derrek Lee - 3/3 with his 7th home
run.
-
Miguel Cabrera - 2/2 with 2 home runs
(21) and 2 walks.
-
Ryan Church - 2/3. He's now 7
for his last 17.
-
Mike Jacobs - 2/4 with his 11th
double. He's been on fire lately, going 11 for his last 25.
-
Matt Kemp - 3/4 with a triple (2).
He's not officially a starter, but he's making it tough to ignore
him. It would make sense for the Dodgers to trade away an
outfielder at the trade deadline to add a power bat in the middle of
the lineup which could open up a full time spot for Kemp.
-
Dave Roberts - 3/4 to extend his
hitting streak to 9 games. During this time he is hitting .389
with 4 steals.
-
Brian Giles - 3/4 with a walk.
In his last 4 games he's 8 for 16 with 3 walks.
-
Milton Bradley - 2/5. In his 4
games with San Diego, he is 6 for 15 with 2 walks. No extra
base hits yet.
-
Kaz Matsui - 2/5 with a double (11).
-
Corey Hart - 2/4. His first
multi-hit game since June 3oth.
-
Albert Pujols - 3/5 with 2 home runs
(20).
Pitching
-
Fausto Carmona - 7 IP, 8 hits, 2 walks
and 4 k's. He's been solid in 3 July starts after closing June
on a bad note. He even has 17 strikeouts in his last 18.1
innings during his personal 3 game winning streak.
-
Boof Bonser - 6.1 IP, 5 hits, 3 walks
and 6 k's. A good player to target in the 2nd half - he's put
up good strikeout numbers this year, but has been very inconsistent.
-
Dan Haren - 6 IP, 7 hits, 3 walks and
3 k's. It might be time to sell high on him, his last 5 starts
have been unimpressive, with 36 hits allowed in 31.1 innings with a
20/10 k/bb ratio.
-
Jered Weaver - 7 IP, 4 hits, 2 walks
and 6 k's.
-
Jeff Weaver - 5 IP, 10 hits, 3 walks
and 4 k's. His worst start since May.
-
Justin Verlander - 7 IP, 8 hits, 1
walk and 6 k's. He's continuing to keep that strikeout rate
up.
-
Josh Beckett - 8 IP, 7 hits, 2 walks
and 8 k's. He now has 29 k's in his last 27 innings, but is
somehow only 2-2 during this time.
-
Scott Olsen - 5 IP, 6 hits, 5 walks
and 2 k's. He has walked 5 batters in 2 of his last 3 starts.
-
Oliver Perez - 6 IP, 6 hits, 3 walks
and 6 k's. First start back from the DL was a good one.
-
Brandon Webb - 5.2 IP, 11 hits, 2
walks and 10 k's. His control has been hurting him lately,
walking 2 or more hitters in each of his last 5 starts vs. only
twice in his previous 5.
-
Adam Wainwright - 7 IP, 6 hits, 2
walks and 5 k's. He's been very inconsistent this year and, at
25 years old, that should be expected.
